The time has finally come for you to move into your new place!... but wait, what do you need to know to get moved in? You have keys, but they are from the seller, so first things first, change all of the locks over. You never know who has keys to your new house from the previous owner. Unless you plan to move yourself, you'll need to hire a moving company and arrange a pick-up and delivery date. Any valuables, firearms, or other items of special care should be dealt with before any movers get to your place. The better you treat your movers, the better they will treat your property; have some bottled water handy and maybe small snacks to keep everyone in good spirits. If you plan to do any immediate construction work to the house have a plan for where you want boxes to go, to prevent double handling of boxes. Be organized and have a plan for where boxes will go when they arrive to the new house. Essentially you will be directing movers to which rooms they need to bring boxes to.
Now that you've moved into your house, you should get some deep cleaning items to clean bathrooms, kitchens and wherever else germs are going to hide. Maybe some new toilets seats? Doing some landscaping or hiring a landscaper is a thought too; keep your new house looking nice on the outside and keep up that curb appeal.
Now is also a good time to consider installing an alarm service or security cameras such as Ring, Blink, etc. If you have neighbors that are in close proximity, and you want privacy it's probably best to put up a fence sooner than later and setting boundaries right out of the gate. If you live in a northern area, you may want to look into snow removal. A good place to start your search is with your landscaper if you've hired one, they usually do both to cover multiple seasons. Please note, these are only suggestions of what you might want to do once you move in, they are definitely not required.
Last, but certainly not least, enjoy your new home!
